Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a condition that is considered to be much chronic and long-lasting disorder that usually appears on the skin and results to have areas of the skin losing their natural colour. When the cells in the skin that make colour is destroyed or attacked, the skin turns its colour to a milky-white.

However, there is a lot more research and the study gone through it, but it was not proved with evidence the actual reason of what causes vitiligo, but it was considered to be an autoimmune disease. For the people who are affected with autoimmune diseases, the immune cells usually first in case it attacks the body’s good and healthy tissues by mistakenly while instead of viruses or dangerous bacteria.

People who are affected with vitiligo sometimes may have some of them in their family the members who also have these diseases. The condition where there is no proper cure for vitiligo, but there has a treatment that helps the skin tone to appear more even.

Vitiligo Causes and Risk Factors

The skin normally does not contain its characteristic colour this is because it has lost its melanin in the layered. While some reason, the skin pigment-forming cells which is known as melanocytes have been damaged completely.

Symptoms

Vitiligo signs include:

  • Patchy loss of skin colour, which usually first appears on the hands, face, and areas around body openings and the genitals
  • Premature whitening or greying of the hair on your scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows or beard
  • Loss of colour in the tissues that line the inside of your mouth and nose (mucous membranes)
  • Vitiligo can start at any age but usually appears before age 30.

Causes of Vitiligo

Vitiligo is the condition that usually occurs when the skin pigment-producing cells which is melanocytes destroyed or die or it stops its function of producing the melanin cell for the pigment which gives colour to your skin, hair and eyes. The patches involved in the skin will become much lighter or white. It may be related to:

  • A disorder of the immune system
  • Family history
  • Family history

Therapies for vitiligo

There are a few different types of techniques that can help to resolve the condition.

Phototherapy, or light therapy, is effective and applied to people by using UVA light which will make the patches to be slower its level of growth or stop the progression of your vitiligo. Usually, this therapy is much effective as possible to give you good results while the therapy involves a session in a week in the doctor's office. But the treatment involves portable devices which will allow you to get treatment to be done at home.
